Reading Lists - Guide to Creating and Editing a Reading List

Purchase request via your reading list

  1. If you add a book or DVD that is not stocked by the Library, the reading list system should ask if you would like it to be purchased.

  2. If you choose Yes, purchase the book, a purchase request will immediately be sent to the Library.
  3. The Library will check and purchase the book as appropriate. Your list will be updated when the book is received.

Core texts (eTextbooks)

If your module is heavily dependent on upon a single textbook let the Library know if you would like us to procure an eTextbook version.

The eTextbook model e.g. from Kortext, BibliU or Bloomsbury is that a copy is purchased for each student that uses it. The Library has to renew our access to the eTextbooks annually so it is important to let us know as soon as you have decided on your core text (even if using the same one as in previous years).

Use the eTextbook request form or contact the Library. See the eTextbooks FAQ for more information about eTextbooks.

Library electronic ordering service (LEO)

Books, DVDs and other material may also be ordered via the Library Electronic Ordering (LEO) service.

LEO is useful if you are requesting

  • Material in advance of preparing your list.
  • Extra copies of books already in stock.
  • Books useful for the Library although not on a reading list..

The LEO form has space to add notes for the Library e.g. specific edition required, details of specialist publishers,
