Option 2: Add items manually

To add any item such as websites, open access items or print journals in the Library:

  1. In your reading list click the +Add button and select Manual entry.
  2. Select the Type of resource from the drop-down menu e.g. book, book chapter, website, government document, DVD etc., add a Title and click Next.
  3. Only add a file if you are sure it is copyright compliant (contact the Library for further guidance).
  4. Complete fields such as Creator (author), URL (web address) etc. Click More item details for additional fields e.g. page numbers or DOI then click Next.
  5. From the drop-down list select which Section you would like the resource to appear in.
  6. Add Information for Students e.g. notes relating to the resource.
  7. Add tags from the drop-down list e.g. essential or optional reading
  8. If this is a print book chapter or a journal article that you require electronically click the Digitize box and the Library will check if a digital copy can be obtained under the University's Copyright Licensing Agency licence.
  9. Click Add.
  10. If you add a book that is not stocked by the Library the reading list system should ask if you would like it to be purchased and a purchase request will be sent to the Library.
