Reading Lists - Guide to Creating and Editing a Reading List

Add items by DOI or ISBN

  1. In your reading list, click +Add and select: Add using DOI or ISBN
  2. Click in the Identifier type field and select DOI or ISBN
  3. Enter the item's DOI or ISBN. For example: 10.1016/j.aquaculture.2020.736178
  4. Click the green Next button
  5. If the DOI or ISBN is recognised the Title field will be populated. (If the Title field is not populated don't continue - use one of the other methods for adding items)
  6. Click the green Next button - you will see the item details form populated with information
  7. Click the green Next button
    • From the drop-down list select which Section you would like the resource to appear in.
    • Add Information for Students e.g. notes relating to the resource.
    • Add tags from the drop-down list e.g. essential or optional reading
    • If this is a print book chapter or a journal article that you require electronically click the Digitize box and the Library will check if a digital copy can be obtained under the University's Copyright Licensing Agency licence.
  8. Click the green Add button (top right). 
  9. If you add a book that is not stocked by the Library the reading list system should ask if you would like it to be purchased and a purchase request will be sent to the Library.
