Sign up for a University of Stirling PressReader account to bring you unlimited access to over 7000 magazines and newspapers. Includes publications from over 120 countries in more than 60 languages. Use the translation feature in the app, text to speech and download articles if you wish.

Read online to keep up to date with the news in different languages, follow your hobbies and sports or relax with your favourite magazine.

Once you have created your account, you can sign in any time with your user name and password.

PressReader provides popular magazine and news content for the last few months up to 1 year ago (different publishers give longer access).

The Library also subscribes to the Financial Times and major newspaper databases including Nexis, Global Newsstream plus a number of historical newspaper sources to aid your current awareness and research. See: https://libguides.stir.ac.uk/newspapers.

Download the PressReader app from your app store (see more information if needed)

• Click Sign In
• If you have already set up an account with University of Stirling, use the Email option
• If you have not yet set up a University of Stirling account for PressReader, click Library & Group and follow our Sign Up instructions.

IMPORTANT - you may see a message suggesting you only have 30 days or less left. PressReader requires you to 're-authenticate' your account after 30 days to continue using it. See instructions above on right.

It is easy to switch from text to speech:

In the App - open an article and click the headphones icon.

Using PressReader on a PC, open an article, click the 3 dots and select Listen.

To translate to another language in the App (See further information):

• Open the newspaper or magazine, click Text View and select an article
  .
• Tap on the 3 dots, select Translate and choose a language.
• When asked if you wish to Enable automatic translation for these languages:
  • Select No to translate only the selected article.
  • Select Yes to translate all publications that you download.

To translate using PressReader on a PC:

• Open an article and click the 3 dots in top right corner
• Select Translate (this will translate the publication issue as you are reading it but other publlications will not be changed).

What is my free access period?

Your verification email may say 'start your free access period'. You should be able to use PressReader for as long as the University has a subscription but you may need to sign in and authenticate to the University from time to time.

Why does it say I only have a number of days left?

Don't worry, this message is normal. The University has a subscription, so you can continue to use PressReader although you may need to sign in and authenticate to the University again.

Email address you entered is not valid

If you see an 'Email address you entered is not valid' error and are not able to access PressReader, please contact the Library. We need to contact PressReader to confirm your credentials and request that your account is checked and reactivated as necessary.

Follow the Sign up steps below to create an account with your University email address as username and a password of your choice.

Once you have your account simply go to https://www.pressreader.com and login with the username and password you created.

Once you have signed up, you may see a message suggesting you have 30 days or less left (especially in the app versions). PressReader requires you to re-authenticate your account after 30 days to continue using it. 

To re-authenticate, sign in to PressReader as usual . Open any publication and click on the 2nd or later page (it may have a padlock indicating you can't view it) to trigger the verification link. The verification link is sent to your email - don't forget to check your junk or spam mail folder.

1. Go to https://www.pressreader.com 
2. Select Sign In (top right)
   
3. Click the Library or Group option
4. Search for and Select University of Stirling from the dropdown menu.
   
5. Select Sign up and create your account with your University email address.
   
   
   
6. You will be sent a verification email (don't forget to check your junk mail) with a link to click on and then you can create your account:
   
7. You can now start reading online or the App.
   You should see the University of Stirling branding to indicate that you have access to the service.
   
    
8. Next time you should just need to use your University email address and the password you used to create your account.
