Cite While You Write - Troubleshooting on Mac

Insert Citation in Word not working following new EndNote download

Security features (especially on new Macs using Mojave) may stop many things working (even if they were previously OK with older download of EndNote).

This often stops EndNote and Word talking to each other – so that inserting a reference in Word doesn’t work and may take you out of Word back to EndNote. You should get a dialogue telling you what to do, this may go unoticed or perhaps won't actually appear.

Possible solution:

Navigate: Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy Tab (at the top) > Automation (on the left, scroll down), then tick the relevant EndNote and Word boxes.

EndNote for iPad

To access your EndNote Library on an iPad you must:
• Setup an EndNote Online account if you don’t have one (click the Getting Started tab on this page and see the EndNote Onlne guide).
• Enter your EndNote Online account details in the preferences of your EndNote Desktop Library (Edit menu – Preferences).
• Sync your Library
• Download the EndNote for iPad app from the App Store.
You can now login to EndNote Online via your iPad and continue working on your Library.

Export from Safari & Chrome - Troubleshooting

There are known problems using Direct Export with Chrome and current Safari browsers on a Mac OSX system. In most cases, instead of importing directly into EndNote, the browser will instead save a file onto the Desktop. This is due to the way these browsers handle MIME types; they interfere with the ability to directly export from certain websites into EndNote.

Try accessing the website and exporting using a Mozilla-based browser instead (see http://www.firefox.com/). Mozilla-based browsers like Firefox allow you to specify how to handle the data when you initiate a direct export, permitting you to select the EndNote application.

NOTE:

If you minimize your library before you try to export from FireFox it will not get imported. You need to leave the library open and not minimized for it to directly import into the open library.
